Salma’s academic background is in Community Psychology. She believes in the value of economic participation and the sustainability of any development effort as critical prerequisites to achieving real change. She is currently the Deputy Managing Director of Ahead of the Curve (Cairo, Egypt) with a focus on sustainability, inclusive business and impact entrepreneurship. Previously, Salma worked with the American University in Cairo’s Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement on the promotion of corporate citizenship and youth citizenship across the Middle East.
Salma has also led multiple studies on philanthropy, responsible and inclusive business in the Arab World, and the effects of housing resettlement on community fabric. Her thesis research explored the level of networking among civil, public, and private sector institutions in one of Cairo’s informal settlements.
