Creativity for Big Impact

Course Description

“Every human being is an artist, called to participate in transforming and reshaping the conditions, thinking, and structures that shape and inform our lives.” Joseph Beuys
Anyone working for positive change can learn to harness and apply creativity to their toughest challenges. This workshop will explore a central aspect of the application of creativity for leadership, entrepreneurship, and social change. Harnessing creativity for positive change depends upon
(1) interrupting the habits and norms at play and
(2) activating new and non-habitual thought, feeling, and action.

We will explore a two-step process of transforming the “shadow” and strengthening the “light” in rigorous, experiential, and personal ways. Participants will experience firsthand what it means to do the “inner work” of creativity, going through step-by-step processes to identify and interrupt their habits with creative insight and imagination. This personal immersion into the heart of creative thought and action will be applied to self, relationships, and team work. We will also explore how these same patterns of transformation and development (light and shadow) are relevant at larger scales, from the organizational to the societal.
