Fundraising for Social Impact
This course is about fundraising for social impact. It is designed for changemakers who are deeply committed to their respective causes and seek to attract others to join them by raising funds; it is designed to provide ideas, tools, techniques, samples and approaches that will make fundraising more effective. Fundraising is, above all, a form of connection.
This course covers why fundraising regardless of whether you lead a not-for-profit or for profit enterprise. Participants will learn how to fundraise, when to fundraise, and who to engage. We will explore why corporate donors and investors are different from individual philanthropists or investor and learn how to engage each audience appropriately.
Students will receive templates to develop tactical tools individualized to each student’s fundraising needs. We will begin by assessing the unique fundraising style of each student assess the donor or investor’s style. Each student will complete:
A fundraising strategy
A calendar of fundraising events
A communication plan
A prospect list/donor pipeline
This course will engage students in learning how to leverage governance for fundraising purposes. Through the fundraising lens, tools will be provided for how to build a board suited to fundraise, how tochange a board if fundraising performance is not achieved, how to manage a board to achieve fundraising goals, and how to engage a board of directors and board of advisors for fundraising purposes.
