Fundraising for Social Impact

Course Description

This course is designed for social entrepreneurs who are deeply committed to a cause and aim for others to join them through fundraising. The course is designed to provide ideas, tools, techniques, samples, case studies and approaches to be a more effective fundraiser. The class will cover: why fundraising is important for social entrepreneurs regardless of whether the entity is a not-­for-­profit organization or for-­profit enterprise; how to fundraise, including specific strategies to make you successful at fundraising, when to fundraise, who to engage and how; why corporate donors and investors are different from individual philanthropists/investors and how to engage each audience appropriately.

Participants will receive templates in class that we will use to develop tactical tools for each participant’s fundraising strategy. The unique fundraising style of each participant will be assessed and we will learn how to assess the donor or investor style of an individual. Each student will leave class having developed:a set of fundraising goals a fundraising strategy a calendar of fundraising events a prospect list or pipeline of donors – all of which will be specific to the social entrepreneur’s enterprise or social business idea relevant tools and resources to explore where to target fundraising activity globally.”
