Stephanie Knox Steiner, PhD, is an Assistant Professor and the Peace Education Program Coordinator in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University for Peace in Costa Rica. With a deep-rooted commitment to peace and peace education, she has gained recognition for her expertise in this field. Stephanie holds a doctorate in the Community, Liberation, Indigenous, and Ecopsychologies specialization from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She has played a pivotal role in developing impactful peace and nonviolence education programs for esteemed organizations like Teachers Without Borders and the Metta Center for Nonviolence.
As a dedicated mindfulness practitioner and an ordained member of the Order of Interbeing of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, she brings a holistic approach to her work. Notably, Stephanie co-founded the Jill Knox Peace Through Humor Fellowship program, in collaboration with the Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor. This innovative initiative facilitates connections and synergies between humor and peace, creating a unique space for peace studies professionals to explore the transformative power of humor. Stephanie’s contributions and experiences make her a prominent figure in the field of peace education, fostering peacebuilding and understanding worldwide.
